Energy forecasts predict natural gas to be the fastest growing primary energy source in Europe in the next 2−3 decades. In order to meet energy need of the future energy need, Turkey revealed as a bridge between East and West, an alternative to Russian gas. Nabucco Project will make Turkey “a real corridor of energy”, strengthen its prestige. Turkey, like Europe is gradually becoming more and more dependent on natural gas. Projects like Nabucco bring undeniable economic gains; will lead to an investment amounting 5 billion Euros in Turkey and will create jobs for at least 5000 people. In 2003, there were 5 city using gas and employing 15.000 people. Today gas infrastructure reached to 50 city, employing 60.000 people. Education and vocational training system has an alerting gap in the field of natural gas. Finding qualified employee is the biggest problem in the sector.
Our project partners GAZBIR (GAZMER) and UGETAM developed the first vocational standards within a protocol with MYK (Vocational Sufficiency Authority) in 2009. Our project consortium will go one step further and cooperate between institutions including organizations providing learning opportunities, SMEs, local authority to find solution to vocational training needs by means of pedagogies, ICT-based contents in life Long learning framework.
Natural gas provision is in countries like Germany already a standard and in most of the Mid and East European countries on gaining ground. The transfer idea stems from the partner Prof. Hoppe (initially IBH, now FPB) who was co-ordinator of the former Optigas project. Experiences of the former coordinator will be helpful in steering and transfer process. The previous Optigas I project of the German partner will be transferred and updated according to specific demands of each partner country (TR, UK, DE, LT, BG).
Each partner is related in gas sector and project tasks have been allocated appropriately to ensure quality and relevance of work with each partner leading at least one work-package to ensure the ongoing input of each partner and the necessary inter-dependence between partners in order to achieve the project goals.
